SafetyDriven is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving health and safety within British Columbia’s trucking, transportation, warehousing, shipping, and logistics sectors. The Certificate of Recognition (COR)
SafetyDriven is the certifying partner for WorkSafeBC’s Certificate of Recognition (COR) program for trucking and related industries. The COR program recognizes employers who implement and maintain occupational health and safety management systems that meet program requirements. Certification helps businesses create safer working environments, reduce risks, and gain access to financial benefits, including potential WorkSafeBC premium rebates.
Challenge
SafetyDriven previously relied on a Word document-based auditing tool, which created numerous challenges. The flexible nature of Word documents led to formatting inconsistencies across audit submissions, requiring additional time for standardization during the review process. Manual calculations for audit scores were also susceptible to errors and caused delays in quality assurance.
Additional challenges included:
- Maintaining separate tools for different audit processes, which increased paperwork and inefficiencies.
- Variability in corrective action plans, with inconsistent formats complicating the alignment of recommendations to audit findings.
- Limited data analysis capabilities, making it difficult to track performance trends or address recurring issues.
We relied heavily on Word documents for our processes, creating separate files for each essential tool. We developed an audit tool in one document, an interview tool in another, and an observation tool in yet another. This extensive reliance on multiple documents made it increasingly challenging to organize and keep track of essential information, leading to inefficiencies in our workflow.
